TLC Student Show (fwd)

Here is information for anyone enrolled currently in TLC class (our
seminar is so crosslisted and Matt is registered under TLC but others
would have to qualify if interested) who might like to use the term paper
as a vehicle to enter this contest for a prize. You could think of
online aspects of civil society, using the part from Putnam's Bowling
Alone included in your course pack as well as a look at the "digital
divide" as evidenced in one or two MENA countries.

Subject: TLC Student Show

March 26, 2002
Dear TLC Professors,

We need you to nominate two student projects as exemplars of outstanding
TLC student work/research to be showcased at the end-of-the-year TLC
Student Show. Co-sponsored by TLC and the Center for Instructional Technology,
the 1st annual TLC Student Show will entail 10 presentations (each approximately
5 minutes long). Afterwards, the public will be able to get a hands-on
tour of the various projects at individual computer terminals while chatting
with the student-developers. This event is not only meant to showcase
the best of the TLC program, but in so doing to help the university public
better understand the TLC concentration.

Suggested Topics:
We anticipate that there will be a wide range of topics reflecting the
diversisty of the TLC curriculum. Possible topics may include but are
not limited to:
•The Digital Divide
•Auditory, Visual, Conceptual Design
•Education and Technology
•Open Source Debate
•Technology and Public Policy
•Technology and the Environment

Nominations:
Please email us your nominations as soon as possible to tlcstudentshow@yahoo.com.
The nomination should be brief and include the following information:
•Course title and instructor’s name
•Student(s) name(s) and email address(es)
•A brief description of the project (no more than a few sentences please).

>From these nominations, the student advisory board will begin contacting
students and selecting the projects for the show. We anticipate having
approximately 20 nominations.

Eligibility:
The nominated project must be part of your current TLC class. In other
words, only students currently enrolled in your TLC class are eligible
for your nomination. Presentations must be designed and showcased using
a digital media, i.e. web format, CD Rom, etc.

Thanks for helping make the TLC Student Show a reality!

The Members of the TLC Student Advisory Board

PS: A member of the TLC Student Advisory Board will be visiting you
during your office hours this week as a follow-up to this letter.
