Institutional Biographies of Palestinian political groups since 1967: (2005)
This website has a very large amount of information, specifically dealing with
the history and growth of Hamas. The information only covers up until roughly
NOV 2002, so the recent shift in strength to the political side of Hamas is not
noted. The quality of information is good and the site is balanced.

Hamas: Wikipedia.(2005)
Several pages of information trace the origin and evolution of Hamas. This
website is slightly biased towards Hamas, and there are several mistakes in the
research and presentation, but the core of the information is of a decent
quality.

Naval Post Graduate School: Terrorist group profiles(2002)
The information presented here is from a State department guide to terrorism,
and is replicated many times over throughout U.S. Government intelligence
websites. The Slant is decidedly anti Hamas, and the quantity of information is
minimal.

Hamas from Cradle to Grave: (2004)
Matthew A. Levitt
There is a great deal of information on the links between charitable giving
terrorism. Also the article go into the social programs Hamas runs in Gaza and
the West Bank. The article is anti-hamas in the sense that it is muck-racking
journalism. And finally there is quite a bit of documentation and information.

MIPT Terrorism Knowledge Base; Hamas: (2005)
The site does a good job in breaking down the terrorist activities Hamas has
claimed responsibility for. However it is anti-Hamas and give little time to
Hamas’ future goals outside of terrorism. Nonetheless the site is useful for
tracking Hamas’ activities.

The New Hamas: Between Resistance and Participation (2005)
Graham Usher
This article covers the past five years of Hamas’ organization and the change
from armed resistance to Israel to an effort at political legitimacy. The
article is balanced and the quality is high but it just brushes past specifics
in terms of policy.

Hamas, Islamic Jihad (Palestinian Islamists) (2005)
Council on Foreign Relations
This Website serves as a Q&A forum for questions about Hamas, but the
information is not very current and the slant of the questions shows a slight
measure of support for Israel over Hamas.

A History of Hamas: (2005)
This website is limited except for the biography and insight into the lives of
Hamas’ early leaders. However there is just enough information to be relevant
to this course. Unfortunately the personal nature of the site detracts from the
quality of the site, but the site dowes present a balanced portrait of Hamas’
leaders.

Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center
at the Center for Special Studies (C.S.S): (2003)
A moderate amount of information complete with picture and graphs, However the
site is markedly aniti-Hamas and hasn’t been updated in a year. Also the site
deals strictly with Hamas as a terrorist organization. But the information
presented is high grade.

Sponsoring Terrorism: Syria and Hamas. (2002)
Gary C. Gambill.
A very large amount of history detailing Hamas’ rise into one of the worlds
premier nationalist terrorist groups. The article is anti terrorism and while
it finds the methods employed by Hamas deplorable the site is neither for nor
against Hamas politically.
