ABSTRACT

A work order form from a custom printing shop was redesigned following rhetorical principles. The new form and the previous version of the form were user-tested on both veteran shop clients and prospective clients. Four tasks were designed to test all parts of the forms. Clients using the new form made less serious errors than clients of the old forms. The combination of quantitative scores and think-aloud protocols provided support for the design changes.
