11-17: CRITIQUES DUE BY 5 PM SUNDAY

--you use the "comment" option to post your critique--

NO CHANCE TO MAKE THIS UP AFTER 11-22, BECAUSE YOUR CRITIQUES ARE OF NO USE TO OTHERS AFTER THEY HAVE WRITTEN THEIR PAPERS. YOUR COLLEAGUES ARE RELYING ON YOU: DON'T LET THEM DOWN.

You don't have to critique everyone. You can do the minimum of five if you want.

REQUIREMENTS: The focus this time is on helping each author rewrite sentences. The process:

[1] You choose an author and then a sentence no one else has rewritten for one of the three categories marked for improvement for that author. [2] You QUOTE the relevant advice in our anthology (PP. 108-170) for this category that best fits this sentence (supply the page no. from the anthology). [3] Then you proceed to rewrite the sentence accordingly to help the author improve in that category.

[4] Then you go to another author and repeat the process. After you have done so with all the authors, you can start a second round, and even a third round after that, but each sentence must be one no one else has revised.

GRADING OF YOUR REWRITES FOR OTHERS: FROM THREE TO SIX POINTS FOR EACH SENTENCE REVISION, DEPENDING ON QUALITY.

TO GET CREDIT FOR YOUR CRITIQUES YOU MUST PUT ALL YOUR EVALUATIONS INTO A SINGLE WORD DOCUMENT (INCLUDING, OF COURSE, THE NAME OF EACH STUDENT YOU EVALUATED AT THE TOP OF THAT CRITIQUE). PRINT OUT THIS DOCUMENT AND HAND IT IN TO THE INSTRUCTOR WHEN YOU GET A CHANCE.
