We are a group of researchers at the University of Texas at Austin who share a fascination with how children learn to use and understand language. We investigate this process by simply exposing infants and toddlers to language, usually within the context of a fun game, and examining what they do, where they look and what they say. Our findings contribute to the knowledge of normal language development, and help young children at risk for, or with diagnosed language problems.

This research is only possible because of the hundreds of parents who volunteer to bring their young children in to meet us. This website was designed for parents who would like to learn more about our research. For more information on who we are, our research, and what a typical visit to the lab looks like, follow the links in the menu above!
