A typical visit will begin when someone from the center contacts you (using the details in our database of volunteers) to inquire whether you and your child are able to come in and help us with a study. If you are available then we will arrange a convenient time with you, and will provide you with directions to one of our locations on the UT campus as well as information on transportation and parking.

When you arrive at the center, one of our research assistants will welcome you and escort you to our playroom, where they will begin by explaining the study. Often we will ask your child to play a game with us. Other times we will simply ask them to watch a short film or listen to a recording and observe how they respond. In all studies you will remain in the company of your child throughout. At the end of the visit your child will be given a small gift, such as a book, a t-shirt or a toy.
